Description

A grade alcohol butyl, normal technical, premium class (n-butanol, 1-butanol, GOST 5208-2013) is a representative of monoatomic alcohols, which is mixed with organic solvents and moderately soluble in water. Butyl alcohol is intended for use as a solvent in the paint industry, as well as for the synthesis of various organic products.

Applications

Butanol has been widely used as a solvent in manufacturing of paints and varnishes, in the production of butyl acetate, butyl acrylate and esters with glycols.

Butyl alcohol is also used in the preparation of plasticizers, in the production of flotation agents, as an additive to most mixed solvents to increase their dissolving ability.

Butanol is a component of some fuels, such as biofuels.

Technical characteristics

Butanol is a colorless, viscous liquid with a characteristic odor.

Safety and regulation

Butyl alcohol should be stored in specially equipped metal tanks or barrels in covered warehouses, under a shed or on a storage platform in compliance with the rules for the storage of flammable substances.

The room where work with butanol is carried out should be equipped with ventilation ensuring the content of harmful substances in a concentration not exceeding the maximum allowable.
